Anybody still interested in an iPod touch?

Ok so it's only just been announced but I really don't understand why there isn't more fuss about this.. The brilliant new 605 Wifi Archos.

My friend Joe put it quite succintly. "Yeah, because it's made by Archos" My counter to that was that if it had been made by Apple it would have made the world over hark that it was the greatest piece of technology since.. the toaster..

It has an absolutely astonishing spec, and for anyone looking at buying the iPod touch, myself included, you should be ashamed of yourself !

Looks great . . . and reasonably priced too.

The trouble is this: The pure slickness of the iPhone / iPod Touch interface (including the PC client app, i.e. iTunes) is just so beyond anything else out there that it makes the Archos stuff look like something from 2002. Surely you've seen the video of the 1 and 2 year old kids running through the iPhone photo slide show or picking out the favourite song. Ease of use is so poorly valued in the tech industry and it's beginning to notice. People will pay extra if the device works and works as well as they expect it to.

There's nothing 'magical' about the Archos, it's just everything that is does has been done before (usually by Archos themselves), It's just an evolution of the products before it. That's not to say that it's poor product, far from it, but it's hardly exciting front page news stuff.
